The Story
In the midst of the Calgary Black Chambers dinner, a compelling 36in by 48in acrylic masterpiece titled ‘Home’ unfolded. The canvas, a map of Africa, revealed a nuanced narrative. On the left, a lush landscape bathed in a sunrise portrayed a deep connection to the land. The right, a vibrant depiction of African villages, celebrated the essence of home for black communities. Dominating the center was a monumental mother figure, exuding strength and cultural identity. The reddish-brown background added warmth. Beyond its visual appeal, the piece was auctioned for $3300, channeling funds for scholarships, transforming art acquisition into a purposeful act of philanthropy.
