Description

UNFILTERED is a visual uprising. This piece captures the moment where suppression meets rebellion — where every attempt to silence becomes fuel for a louder truth. The fragmented face partially buried in graffiti-like scrawls and slashes of black and red represents the artist’s childhood reality: being told to lower his voice to act “normal” to fit into a structure that didn’t account for his fire. Raised in the concrete tension of Mile 2 and Egbeda Macanjy reflects the raw emotional resistance of a young boy misunderstood by systems schools and even family — until the only language left was art. Words like “REAL” “UNFILTERED” “INSPIRED” and “PAIN” are scratched into the surface — not just for visual texture but to reclaim space. They’re not captions. They’re battle scars. The name “ZION” sits at the bottom anchoring this as a declaration — not only of identity but of inheritance. This is not just Macanjy’s story. It’s his son’s future. This work is not polite. It’s not clean. It’s not softened for consumption. It is — as the name says — UNFILTERED.
